Milan has a new mayor

 
After two rounds of elections have finally concluded.

The center-left candidate, Giuliano Pisapia, won with 55% of the votes taking the city after 20 years of center-right government.







Big party in Piazza Duomo until very late.
There were about 70,000 people, many more than those who attended the celebration for winning the Italian league football

Archeological Museum

The archaeological museum is located in the former convent of the Monastery of SanMaurizio Maggiore, founded in the eighth century AD.

The collections are displayed in different rooms depending on the culture.
On the ground floor you will find the section on Old Milan.
In the basement you can visit the sections of Caesarea and of Gandhara.
The first-floor section, early medieval, the second section, the Etruscan and the thirdfloor is dedicated to the Greek section

Tuesday to Sunday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Closed on Mondays

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II

Near Duomo di milano you can enter Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II to go to Piazza Della Scala
This Gallery is a covered double arcade formed of two glass-vaulted arcades at right angles intersecting in an octagon. Named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of united Italy, it was originally designed in 1861 and built between 1865 and 1877.

Museum of science and tecnology

The National Museum of Science and Technology "Leonardo da Vinci" is located in 'oldmonastery of San Vittore al Corpo, near the place where Leonardo had some landplanted with vines, then just outside the city walls. The museum with its 40,000 m² total isnow the largest technical-scientific museum in Italy and has the largest collection in the world of machine models made ​​from drawings by Leonardo da Vinci.

Panettone is a type of sweet bread loaf originally from Milan usually prepared and enjoyed for Christmas and  New Year.

Castello Sforzesco - Sforza Castle

The Castello Sforzesco was built in the fifteenth century on the orders of the Duke Francesco Sforza as a ducal palace Over the year it became barracks and finally became the first home to museums and cultural institutions.

The Last Supper - Leonardo da Vinci

L'ultima cena ( The Last Supper) is a 15th century mural painting created by Leonardo da Vinci for Duke Ludovica Sforza. It represents the scene from the final days of jesus as narrated in the Gospel of John, when Jesus annunces that one of his twelve apostles would betray him.

Opening hours : Tuesday to Saturday 8:15 to 18.45.
Reservation is required.
